The phrase Mom Uniform can bring up many different ideas. It might bring up thoughts of t.v. moms from the 50’s in a house dress, apron and pearls. You might think of mom jeans and an ugly sweater. Maybe you think of a mom in yoga pants and a tank top. The possibilities are endless.
While a one-size-fits-all approach would be amazing, it’s not always practical. I’ve also thought about creating a mom capsule wardrobe. It just seems a little too restrictive for me.
Since I’m a mama that works both from home and out of the house, I need a few different options. Currently, I do client visits a couple days a week. I have to run errands sometimes. Most importantly, the biggest chunk of my life is happily at home. So, I need comfy but professional, some stylish but simple outfits, and a super comfy house dress.
Comfy but Professional
My client visits do not require a special uniform. They also don’t require I wear any type of suit. I wanted something that would work well with the weather here in SC. It’s hot at least half of the year and fairly warm for the rest. Since I spend a lot of time in the car, I prefer sleeveless tops as much as possible. It’s easy to throw on a thin cardigan and head into my appointments. I can look neat and professional while staying comfy.
While looking online for something that checked all the boxes, I ran across the Latched Mama romper. It has POCKETS! I immediately ordered one in grey and fell in love. It’s designed for breastfeeding mamas. While I’m not currently breastfeeding, my youngest is 14, I do plan on having a few more and plan to stock up on these! Honestly, I would stock up on these even if I wasn’t planning on having more! I’d just get the opening stitched shut. They’re ridiculously comfortable!
As someone who isn’t really good at peopling, dealing with crowds and public is not my favorite thing. I’m ALLLLLL about comfort when I’m out and about! Yoga pants are my bffs at the farmer’s market (these are my favorite)! Add a tank and throw my teacher sweater in my bag and I’m good to go. No, it’s not actually a sweater for teachers. I’ve always had a love affair with cardigans. I wear them almost daily. There is always one in my bag if I’m not wearing it. Years ago, someone commented that I always wear teacher sweaters and the name stuck.
At Home With The Ultimate Mom Uniform
Home is truly my favorite place to be. In my house or working in my yard, I’m happiest in my domain. The idea of a mom uniform comes from my grandmother. I remember she was always in her housedress when I was little. I love the idea but couldn’t find something that didn’t make me look 80. After doing some searching, I finally found the 24/7 housedress from Undercover Mama! It’s cute, ultra comfy and works great no matter what stage of your mamaness. I ordered one in black but decided I need several more!
You can get them from Undercover Mama directly or find them on Amazon here.
So that’s it! That’s my mom uniform. Did I miss anything? Do you have your own mom uniform? I’d love to hear about it below!
